A small band of thin clouds draped over the horizon creating a soft pastel-like color palette that reminds me of a Georgia O’Keeffe painting. The incoming Dalmatian pelican is awash in soft cotton candy like hues. This moment of time when the colors were soft and soothing only lasted a minute at most, but it made everything tranquil, surreal, and comforting. After this shot, I set my camera down and just took it all in— something I always suggest every photographer do— and saying it was beautiful would be a massive understatement. It was humbling and makes me realize how lucky I am to witness these short wonders of nature.
